Plot allotment in new town set for February

BDFCL targets 57, 820 rural clients by 2013
26 January, 2010 - The country’s sole development bank that caters to rural Bhutanese, the Bhutan development finance corporation Ltd. (BDFCL), is aiming to acquire 57,820 rural credit customers by the end of 2013 as part of its micro-financing mandate. In 2009, BDFCL had 18,627 rural credit customers.

Bhutanese U-14 tennis players lack experience
26 January, 2010 - Four Bhutanese tennis players who participated in under-14 Asian Championship tennis tournament held in Kuching, Malaysia between January 9 - 19 said lack of exposure and experience deterred them from playing their own game.

PM urges educators to discuss truly viable and effective measures against indiscipline in schools

25 January, 2009 - The prime minister, Lyonchhoen Jigmi Y Thinley, has suggested corporal punishment, which is officially banned in schools, be used as the last resort to counter growing indiscipline cases in educational institutes.

Speaking to educators at the annual education conference in Phuentsholing earlier this month, he said that children were growing waywardly and it might not have been right for the schools to do away with corporal punishment without finding an alternative.
