Amochu Land Reclamation Project 12 February, 2010 - Two years after the Amochu (Toorsa) land reclamation proposal was approved in principle by the cabinet, the much-awaited project, aimed at protecting Phuentsholing from flooding and to reclaim eroded land for sustainable use, is yet to take off.

“It’ll take a while,” said the works and human settlement minister, Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba. “It needs a lot of planning as it’s a huge project, with the total cost estimated to be over five billion ngultrums.”

‘Inadvertent’ human rights violations
11 February, 2010 - “In promoting the rights of our people, we must be receptive to our mistakes and accessible to corrections,” said the chairperson of the national assembly’s human rights committee, MP Damchoe Dorji.
