Two years after the Amochu (Toorsa) land reclamation proposal was
approved in principle by the cabinet, the much-awaited project, aimed at
protecting Phuentsholing from flooding and to reclaim eroded land for
sustainable use, is yet to take off.
“It’ll take a while,” said the works and human settlement
minister, Lyonpo Yeshey Zimba. “It needs a lot of planning as it’s a
huge project, with the total cost estimated to be over five billion
ngultrums.”

assembly’s human rights committee, MP Damchoe Dorji. While instances of
